ReadAI lets you interact with your documents in new ways. You can chat with the AI to ask questions about your text, generate podcast-style discussions, or create concise summaries. These tools help you understand, review, and engage with your content more efficiently.
ReadAI is currently available on the personal web version only. Support for mobile is coming soon.
ReadAI is a subscriber feature, but can be tested on a limited basis by free users.
Accessing ReadAI
ReadAI works with uploaded documents only and is not available for typed or pasted text. Free users can try it with limited access and can subscribe for more use.
With the document open, click AI from the side menu.
Choose what you want to create: Podcast, Recap, or select Chat to interact with the AI assistant about your document.
To view your previous ReadAI creations, click or tap the History icon in the left corner.
Podcast
Transform your document into a conversational, podcast-style format. It’s designed as a fun, creative way to engage with the content and is intended for personal, private use only. Like any other audio content your create with NaturalReader Text to Speech (personal version), the audio cannot be redistributed.
You can choose to convert the whole document or a selected range of pages, both options up to a limit of 500 pages. Each podcast can include up to two speakers, and you can choose how detailed you want the discussion to be.
Before creating a podcast, note that the playback speed will use your current NaturalReader speed setting. If you want to adjust it, change the speed first, then open ReadAI. You can still change playback speed after the podcast is created, but adjusting it beforehand ensures it’s set how you like from the start.
With ReadAI opened, select the Podcast tab.
Use the drop-down menu to select Whole Book or Custom page range. The page limit for either is 500.
Select the number of speakers (maximum of 2).
Select Edit to change your speaker selections.
Choose the podcast length: Quick Overview, Summary, Full Breakdown, or Deep Dive.
Select Next to finish.
Please be patient while your content is generated. For faster processing, consider selecting fewer pages at a time.
Once it’s ready, press Play or click on the text to start listening, and the text will highlight as it’s read out loud. Use the menu button (three dots) to change speaker settings, adjust the speed.
Start a new creation from the menu options by selecting Add New or by selecting the + button from the top left of the ReadAI window.
Your creations save automatically, so they won’t be lost if you Add New, switch to another ReadAI tab, close ReadAI, or logout. You can re-open past creations by selecting the History button from the top left of the ReadAI window.
Recap
The Recap feature helps you save time by generating a clear, summarized version of your document. You can choose to recap the entire document or a selected range of pages, up to a limit of 500 pages. Recaps use one speaker only.
Before creating a recap, note that the voice and playback speed will use your current NaturalReader settings. If you want to change them, adjust these settings first, then re-open ReadAI. You can still change the voice or speed afterward, but setting them beforehand ensures it’s exactly how you want before generating.
With ReadAI opened, select the Recap tab.
Use the drop-down menu to select Whole Book or Custom page range. The page limit for either is 500. (If you choose Custom page range, use the additional drop-downs to set the range.)
Choose the recap length: Quick Overview, Summary, or Full Breakdown.
Select Next to generate.
Please be patient while your content is generated. For faster processing, consider selecting fewer pages at a time.
Once it’s ready, press Play or click on the text to start listening, and the text will highlight as it’s read out loud. Use the menu button (three dots) to change the speaker, adjust the speed, or download as an MP3.
Chat
Ask questions, clarify details, or explore ideas about your text by interacting with the AI.
Formerly known as AskAI, this feature is now part of the expanded ReadAI toolset. It acts as your personal AI learning assistant, helping you engage with uploaded documents to support study, research, and learning.
You can use Chat to:
Generate summaries of the document
Identify key terms and definitions
Create notes or study prompts
Translate content
Please note that Chat can answer questions only about the content of your uploaded document. It cannot provide general knowledge or advanced reasoning beyond what appears in your text.
While viewing a response:
Click on the response text to listen to it, or select the loudspeaker icon to hear it read aloud. The text will highlight during playback.
Select the copy icon to copy the response to your clipboard.
Select the translate icon to translate the response into a different language.
To view previous conversations, select the History button or to start a new conversation, select the Add New button. Both are in the top-left corner of the ReadAI window.
