Reading Styles with HD Pro Voices (Personal Version)

What are Reading Styles?

Reading Styles is a feature for Pro Voices only that lets you control the delivery, tone, emotion, and even accent of the voice. You can choose from preset styles or create your own using a custom prompt.

Make your Pro Voice sound more natural, expressive, or suited to your content by customizing its delivery.



Apply a Reading Style

  1. Click or tap the voice icon to open Voice Settings.

  2. Go to the Pro Voices tab.

  3. Select Customize Now (desktop) or Customize Reading Style (mobile).

  4. Mouse over or tap a style and select Use to apply it.

  5. When you have a style in use, you'll see it in the Pro Voice tab in the voices settings eg. "Active: Calm ASMR". Click or tap on the active style to change it.


Creating Reading Styles

  1. Click or tap the voice icon to open Voice Settings.

  2. Go to the Pro Voices tab.

  3. Select Customize Now (desktop) or Customize Reading Style (mobile).

  4. Select Create Your Own (desktop) or Add New Style (mobile).

  5. Complete the prompt "Read aloud this text in..." by describing how the voice should read (see examples below).

  6. Select Preview Audio to hear a sample passage using your style.

  7. Give your style a name.

  8. Select Done (desktop) or OK (mobile) to save your new style.

Prompt Examples

Here are some example prompts that complete the phrase Read aloud this text in...

  • a calm and reassuring tone with a Scottish accent

  • a gentle and warm tone for narrating a children's story

  • a slow and expressive delivery suitable for beginner language learners

  • a flat, monotone style like a deadpan nature documentary

  • a slow and warm storytelling style with a Southern American accent

  • a bright and casual tone like a podcast host

  • a soft and thoughtful voice with a reflective mood

  • a casual, chatty tone like a podcast about everyday life

  • hushed, slow-paced voice with tension for a mystery or thriller

  • a soft, thoughtful delivery with a reflective, almost meditative mood

  • a cheerful and exaggerated style like an animated cartoon character

  • a dramatic, intense, and cinematic style for fantasy narration

  • a suspenseful and quiet tone for a horror story

  • a cheerful and conversational tone with a heavy Canadian accent

  • a whispery, soothing voice for ASMR or calming meditations

You can use full sentences or short descriptive phrases. Try experimenting with tone, pacing, personality, and regional accents.

Get creative! If the result is not what you expect, try rephrasing. Reading Styles are a fun way to personalize your listening experience, but results may vary depending on the prompt.


Editing or Deleting Custom Reading Styles

To edit or delete a custom Reading Style on desktop:

  1. Click or tap the voice icon to open Voice Settings.

  2. Go to the Pro Voices tab.

  3. Select Customize Now and go to the My Styles tab

  4. Mouse-over the style and click on ... to select Edit Style or Delete Style

To edit or delete a custom Reading Style on mobile

  1. Click or tap the voice icon to open Voice Settings.

  2. Go to the Pro Voices tab.

  3. Tap Customize Reading Style

  4. Tap on your custom style, then tap the Edit (pencil) or Delete (trash) icon


Notes

  • Reading Styles only work with Pro Voices.

  • Custom styles are saved to your account and can be reused across documents.

  • Prompts support freeform natural language. Describe the tone, emotion, or style you want.

  • Some voices may respond better to certain prompts than others.


Responsible Use Reminder

Reading Styles is a powerful tool. Avoid using it to imitate real individuals or create misleading content. If you are using AI voices in a school, academic, or workplace setting, be sure to follow any relevant guidelines.
