Easily read from webpages with a few clicks with NaturalReader's Chrome Extension

Listen to articles, news, and all of your favourite websites with the Chrome Extension. NaturalReader supports most websites with standard formatting.

Please keep in mind that websites that require login to access its content may restrict third parties from accessing that content. This means that our extension may be blocked from accessing text on websites with paid subscription content or eLearning websites.

  1. Go to the webpage you wish to read

  2. If you have the extension pinned, click on NaturalReader's icon to launch the extension. Or, click on Chrome's Extensions icon and select NaturalReader from your list of extensions.

  3. Click the Play button to begin listening from the start of the webpage

  4. After pressing Play, you can click on any text on the webpage to begin reading from there.


OR USE HOTKEYS:

  1. Go to the webpage you wish to read

  2. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's icon from your pinned extensions or by opening Extensions and selecting NaturalReader

  3. Press the hotkey shortcut for Read on your keyboard to begin listening:
    Windows: ALT + R
    Mac: ⌥ OPTION + R

Tip: You can set up a hotkey shortcut for activating the extension by going Settings > Hotkeys. By default there is no preset.

Use the extension's Highlight to Read feature to listen to only specific parts of the text. When Highlight to Read is turned on, you can highlight text from a webpage, then click on an icon to listen to the highlighted text.

  1. Check that you have the Highlight to Read setting on by going to Settings

  2. Select Highlight to Read from the list of settings

  3. Click to turn the setting ON (blue) and select how many characters you'd like to be highlighted before the icon appears

  4. Click on back ( < ) to save your settings

  5. Now when you highlight text, click on the icon that appears to have that text read aloud

OR USE THE CONTEXT MENU

  1. With the Highlight to Read setting turned on, go to the webpage you wish to read

  2. Use your cursor to highlight the text you'd like to listen to

  3. Right-click and select Read Selection

Tip: You can set up a hotkey to activate Highlight to Read by going to Settings > Hotkeys > Customize Hotkeys.

After launching the extension, you can click on any text on the webpage to start reading from there.

  1. Go to the webpage you wish to read

  2. Launch the extension by selecting NaturalReader from your pinned extensions or extensions list

  3. Click on any text to start listening

Tip: Click to Read can be toggled by going to Settings > Click-to-Read
