Immersive Reader

Use Immersive Reader to listen and read with minimal distractions. It extracts only relevant text from the webpage, ignoring images, hyperlinks, caption text, and other unnecessary text on the page.

Immersive Reader works with most websites with standard formatting, but may be unavailable on other sites.

Before Immersive Reader:

After Immersive Reader:

Enter Immersive Reader mode from the extension's expanded toolbar.

  1. If you don't have Quick Start enabled, launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar. Or use the hotkey for Active the extension.

  2. Hover the pointer over the extension and select the arrow to expand the widget

  3. Select Immersive

Immersive Reader Text Preferences

You can further customize the look of Immersive Reader with its Text Preferences settings.

After activating Immersive Reader, select Text Preferences from the left panel.

Increase or decrease the font size of the text.

Text Spacing

Increases the spaces between characters.

On websites where Immersive Reader is incompatible, Closed Captions may be available to use instead. This includes Google Docs and Kindle for Web, which do not support Immersive Reader but can support Closed Captions.

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Select the left arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Press Play or use the hotkey to begin listening to the text

  4. From the expanded toolbar, select CC if available

  5. You can now follow along with the reading using the Closed Captions along the bottom of the page
