All about extension settings including changing the voice and speed

Change Voice

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Select the left arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Select Voices to open the voice settings

  4. Use the drop-down menu to select LLM Multilingual Studio voices or select a language for AI and non-AI voices

  5. Select a voice from the list and exit to save

Tip: Click on the pushpin to save your favourites to the Pinned Voices list. Select Pinned Voices from the voice setting's drop-down menu to view your saved voices.


Change Speed

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Select the left arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Select Speed to open the speed settings

  4. The default 1x speed is 180 WPM. Click and drag on the bar to increase or decrease the WPM


Voice Toggling

Use the Hotkeys shortcut for Speaker (Windows: alt + S / Mac: ⌥S) to toggle between 2 of your favourite voices.

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Click the arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Select Settings

  4. Select Other Settings, Help & Contact

  5. Select Voice Toggling

  6. Use the drop-down menus to select 2 voices to use Voice Toggling with

Change the default Speaker Hotkey and other shortcuts from the Hotkey settings.


Autoscroll

On by default. The webpage will autoscroll down while you're listening to text. Toggle Autoscroll from the Settings.

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Click the arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Select Settings

  4. Select the switch next to Autoscroll to turn it on or off


Click to Read

On by default. Press play to begin listening to a webpage. Afterwards, you can click on any text on the page to listen to it.

Clickable text will be highlighted when the pointer hovers over it.

Toggle Click to Read from the Settings.

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Click the arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Select Settings

  4. Select the switch next to Click to Read to turn on or off



Highlight to Read

On by default. User your pointer to highlight text, then click on the Highlight to Read button to listen to it.

Only the text you highlight will be read aloud. You can also use Highlight to Read by right-clicking after highlighting the text and selecting Read selection.

Go to Settings to turn Highlight to Read on or off or to adjust how many characters must be highlighted to trigger it.

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Click the arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Select Settings

  4. Select Highlight to Read

  5. Select the switch to turn Highlight to Read on or off

  6. Use the drop-down menu to select how many characters must be highlighted before the Highlight to Read button is triggered


Highlighter

While you listen, the text will be highlighted as the voices read to you. You can change the colour of the highlighter and what is highlighted.

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Click the arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Select Settings

  4. Select Highlighter

  5. Use the drop-down menu under Text on highlight to select what you want highlighted. The options are: sentence & word, sentence only, word only, or none.

  6. Use the drop-down menu under Highlight Colour to choose a colour theme


Change Volume

You can use the master volume control on your device to adjust the volume, or use the extension's volume control to make the extension's audio quieter than your other apps and programs.

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Click the arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Select Settings

  4. Select Other Settings, Help & Contact

  5. Select Volume

  6. Click and drag the volume bar to adjust the audio level



Auto-Detect by Language

Off by default. This setting detects the language used on the webpage and automatically applies a voice in the corresponding language, if available.

  1. Launch the extension by clicking on NaturalReader's logo from your pinned extensions or by selecting NaturalReader from your extensions list. Both options are next to the address bar.

  2. Click the arrow to expand the extension widget

  3. Select Settings

  4. Select Other Settings, Help & Contact

  5. Click the switch next to Auto-Detect by Language to turn it on or off
